Pupils on-site at Link's new housing development

Pupils from two Edinburgh primary schools donned hard hats and high visibility vests on Wednesday 25 June to join Link's Chief Executive on a visit to the organisation's new affordable housing development in the city's Gracemount.

Link CEO Craig Sanderson, the P4 class from St Catherine's Primary and pupils from Gracemount Primary's Eco Committee and Pupil Council heard from construction company J. Smart & Co. about how the 21 affordable houses - 16 for outright sale and five for sale through shared equity - are taking shape. Link will also invite the children to take part in a competition to name the development and plant trees to line the new street when the homes are ready for occupation at the end of this year.

Link is keen to ensure that local people are involved in the project. A successful public consultation took place at Gracemount High School before the development got underway and Link visited Gracemount and St Catherine's Primaries at the beginning of the year to tell pupils about the new homes.

Craig Sanderson said: "Link's new development of affordable homes will impact positively on the local community and we want people of all ages in Gracemount to be kept informed about and feel involved in the work we're doing."
