Link Wins Outstanding Achievement In Tenant Participation Award

Link Group has secured the top accolade in the annual Good Practice in Tenant Participation Awards this year. The award was presented to Jim Mathieson who is a Link tenant in sheltered housing in Falkirk and a member of the management committee member of Link Housing Association.

Jim said "This award recognises Link's achievements in involving tenants and residents in a range of initiatives and increasing the number of tenants and service users on its boards and committees of management. This is a challenge, particularly given the wide range of customers Link has and their geographical spread".

Link has embraced participation during the past few years and, following the appointment of a dedicated Tenant Liaison Officer and the establishment of a subsidiary company (Linkwide) to deliver wider action, it has worked with local communities in Dalmuir, Petersburn, Coatbridge, Falkirk, Edinburgh and Grangemouth to combat social exclusion by promoting employment initiatives, healthy living, community regeneration, computer literacy, environmental improvements and social and recreational amenities. Tenant panels, a sheltered housing tenants' forum and service user groups are established. Tenants and service users make up one third of Link's membership and form a majority on the management committees of both LinkLiving and Link Housing Association, subsidiary companies which offer housing support and management of social rented stock respectively.

The awards were presented by The Tenant Participation Service in Scotland and the Chartered Institute of Housing in Scotland and were sponsored by Lovell Construction.
