Plans for recreational and environmental improvements by Linkwide Ltd. in Petersburn Community Park, Airdrie have benefited from extensive consultation with North Lanarkshire Council and several local community groups and have now received Planning Approval.
Participation by a range of local groups and individuals have helped create an exciting new plan for transforming Petersburn Park, comprising:
These proposals (which will cost some £2M) complement the ongoing £20m housing regeneration by the Link Group which is taking place in Petersburn. They are part of a holistic approach to neighbourhood regeneration that has included the creation of local construction and employment training opportunities, the establishment of the Petersburn Environmental Initiative offering further training opportunities and provision of community safety projects like a pilot CCTV scheme.
Linkwide is leading fundraising efforts for this project and anticipates the full backing of the local community, North Lanarkshire Council, Communities Scotland and other partners.
