Link And Its Partners Successful In Competition To Regenerate Oatlands, Glasgow

The Link Group is delighted to be one of the members of the successful Consortium which will, in partnership with local people and Glasgow City Council, recreate Oatlands for the 21st Century as a high quality neighbourhood in the City of Glasgow.

It is intended that around 1,250 new homes for sale and rent will be provided within a revitalised and new parkland and river location. The proposals will make full use of the setting of Richmond Park. It will also involve the downgrading of Rutherglen Road which disrupts the heart of the community. This will be relocated to form a southern boundary of the new community and create new and welcome relief from intrusion by adjacent industrial uses.

From inside this new road alignment to the south and the River Clyde to the north, a new Oatlands will emerge.

The Council and the local community have presented a unique opportunity to create an Oatlands which will not only offer a wonderful environment in which to live and play but an Oatlands which will build on the successes of the regeneration of the Gorbals to the west, and Glasgow Green - a walk across the Clyde - to the north.

Together with our fellow Consortium members (Bett, Cala and Morrison), we will invest over £100m in Oatlands over the next 10 years in:

building over 1,000 new homes for sale;
building 250 new homes for rent;
upgrading Richmond Park;
providing a new community facility and state-of-the-art play facility.

Link's Role

Link Group, through its subsidiaries, is able to make a major contribution to the challenges facing the Consortium. These include:

Designing, building, owning and managing 250 new affordable homes for rent
Delivering an integrated factoring and housing management services to over 1,000 new owners and 250 new social renters respectively.
Proactively working with the local community, Glasgow City Council and other agencies in the development and operation of new high quality community and play facilities.
Exploring innovative ways of raising community awareness and building community capacity through, for example, the use of "Wider Action" funds and other types of external resources.
