Link tells kids, "Stay safe - stay off!"

May 2008

The organisations behind a project to build new affordable homes in Lomond Drive, Falkirk, are working to make sure local kids will stay safe by staying off the construction site.

A team from Linkwide, part of the Link Group, and construction company Morris and Spottiswood will visit Langlees and Bainsford Primary Schools to deliver fun sessions aimed at raising the children's awareness of the dangers of playing on building sites.

Langlees and Bainsford Schools neighbour the development site, where work is scheduled to begin on 12 May. Between then and April 2009, 32 houses and flats will be built - 17 for affordable rent, 10 for shared ownership and five for shared equity. Link is leading on the project and has appointed Morris and Spottiswood as the main contractor to build the 32 homes. The site was purchase from Falkirk Council, with which Link has been working in partnership to plan the development.

Linkwide's Hazel Boyd and Ruth MacKenzie and Morris and Spottiswood's Joanne Matthews and Richard Stewart will lead the school sessions. The team will visit Langlees Primary School this Friday, 9 May, and Bainsford Primary a short time later.

Development Officer Hazel said: "We're looking forward to meeting the pupils to tell them about the development while reminding them that although the site might look like an exciting place to play, many dangers lurk there - the only way to stay safe is to stay off."
