Link Homes has introduced a new low-cost hotline telephone number for Homestake - now giving people easier access to the hugely successful Communities Scotland-funded scheme, which helps people in Edinburgh and the Lothians get onto the property ladder.
The new number is 0845 155 0089. In addition to making it easier and cheaper for applicants to reach the Homestake team, it will allow Link Homes to more closely monitor demand for the service.
Homestake has proved to be hugely popular since it was launched in September 2005. More than 1250 applications have been made to Homestake, around 1000 applications have been approved and nearly 500 homes have been purchased so far.
Link Homes administers the pilot scheme, which is being run in conjunction with two other partner Registered Social Landlords.
Craig Sanderson, Link Group Chief Executive said: 'This is an exciting time for our Homestake team which is very busy with the huge demand for the service. We are committed to helping first time buyers and those whose circumstances have changed realise their dreams of becoming home owners, and the new number should now help to make it even easier for people to reach us."
Pauline Innes, the Lothians, Borders and Fife area director for Communities Scotland said: "Communities Scotland has increased the funding for Homestake in Edinburgh and the Lothians to around £20 million this year. The new telephone enquiry line will make it easier for people to access the scheme and the opportunity it offers them."
In addition to the new hotline number, information about Homestake can be accessed online by visiting www.linkhousing.co.uk and clicking the Homestake button.
