The Edinburgh Mental Health Service is a visiting support service that works with a wide range of people, the main criteria being that the person actively wants to engage in support.
Support is person centred, flexible and responsive to the changing needs of the service user. We can support people for a few months or longer term. Hours of support cam be provided 7 days a week and may vary between a few hours or support to much higher individualised packages.
Support can help people to develop tenancy management skills such as budgeting, healthy eating, shopping, cooking, paying bills and thus helping people live safely in their homes. Support may also focus on developing life skills, assertiveness and help to access opportunities from learning, training and employment.
Many of the people we support may be vulnerable due to a number of reasons such as family breakdown, drug and alcohol issues, offending behaviour, mental health issues or survivors of past abuse.
The Edinburgh Mental Health Service is primarily funded via Supporting People, however we can also explore support to people via other funding streams such as Care at Home funding or self funding. The service can be accessed by completion of an application form.
