Sheltered Housing

As they grow older, many people wish to continue to live independently but with a bit of extra support.Tenants of Link sheltered housing Link is committed to helping older people lead independent lives and operates 12 sheltered housing complexes across Scotland’s central belt. Each complex is staffed by a sheltered housing officer, whose presence provides tenants with peace of mind that they have someone to call on in an emergency.

All of our complexes are situated close to shops, GP surgeries and other local amenities, and the regular social activities organised by each offer tenants an enjoyable chance to meet with their neighbours.

Who can apply for Link sheltered housing?

The only qualifying condition that generally applies is that residents must be 60 years old or above.  In the case of couple, one partner must be over 60. There is no upper age limit.

An exception to this rule may be made where someone under 60 would benefit significantly from sheltered support – for example, if they have a physical or mental disability.

What does Link sheltered housing offer?

Sheltered housing officers

Each complex has its own sheltered housing officer, who generally works Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and can provide tenants with the following support:

Referring tenants to a Linkwide advice officer who can offer help with welfare rights and benefits queries .

Link’s sheltered housing does not replace any current or future need a tenant may have for ‘care’ services such as home-help, meals on wheels, bathing assistance or help given by a district nurse or other medical practitioners. We are unable to administer medication to tenants, or to offer help with financial affairs other than advice on benefit or welfare rights issues.
